How we keep young people safe and maintain quality.
Make a referralOur commitment to safety
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Our priority is to keep every young person we support safe. All staff receive safeguarding training before they start working with young people, and understand their responsibility to be alert to, and refer, any concern.
We follow the guidance of the Local Safeguarding Children’s Board and the Department for Education, with a Designated Safeguarding Lead, robust risk assessments that are regularly reviewed, and clear incident-response protocols. Young people are told who they can speak to — inside and outside Foundations — if they are ever worried.
- ✓ Enhanced DBS checks for all staff, renewed every three years
- ✓ Safeguarding training before every member of staff starts
- ✓ A Designated Safeguarding Lead and clear referral routes
- ✓ Regularly reviewed risk assessments and missing-from-home protocols

The building blocks of a safe home
Safer recruitment
Enhanced DBS checks, an up-to-date central record and safer-recruitment practice in line with UK legislation.
Trained staff
A 30-module mandatory training programme — including L3 Safeguarding Children, trauma-informed practice, MAPA, and more — refreshed yearly.
Robust risk management
Individual risk assessments, grab packs, and missing-from-home protocols, reviewed regularly and after any incident.
Young people’s rights and voice
We work to the principle of partnership set out in the Children Act 1989. Young people are consulted on the decisions that affect them — from their support plan and key worker to activities and how the home is run — through key-work sessions, house meetings and feedback.
- A ‘Guide to Young People’s Rights and Entitlements’ for every young person
- Regular house meetings and feedback forms
- Involvement in decisions, reviews and (where possible) staff selection
- A welcoming, inclusive home that celebrates cultural and faith identity
Views and feedback are captured in our Quality & Support Review reports and used to improve the service.
